100 YEARS OF WALDORF EDUCATION

The Postcard Exchange:
The idea of exchanging postcards is as simple as it is enchanting: When every Waldorf school in the world sends just one postcard to every other Waldorf school in the world, then 1,100 postcards will arrive in every school! Many schools are creating large displays of their cards to illustrate the global reach of Waldorf education.
The first Waldorf school was founded in Stuttgart in 1919. Today there are over 1,100 Waldorf schools and almost 2,000 Waldorf kindergartens in some 80 countries around the globe. In September of 2019 we will celebrate 100 years of Waldorf education. To commemorate the occasion, schools around the world are participating in special core projects such as:

Metamorphoses:
A series of musical compositions written especially for our Centennial Celebration by master students from composition classes in leading music schools around the world. "Procession-Contraction: Metamorphosis" has been premiered, and on 9 February 2019 around 900 people were listening to it in a fully occupied auditorium at the Rudolf Steiner Schule Hamburg-Wandsbek. If you are interested, you can watch it as a YouTube video here.

Bees & Trees:
Bees play a critical role in the health of our planet and our food supply. But bees are dying and we want to do something about it. We want to keep bees at all our Steiner/Waldorf facilities, and have pupils of all ages participate intensively in the health of bees, from the lower to the upper grades, from harvesting honey to pursuing complex research projects. We will make the earth a place where bees can thrive again.
